Education and Work Life

Annette taught herself A Levels, qualified as an accountant and gained a Level 7 Diploma in Business and Finance from De Montfort University - all whilst working full time.

She has worked in businesses at all levels from Office Junior to Finance Director and has a thorough understanding of the practical difficulties of dealing with changing business environments. Working for multi-national organisations she has implemented manufacturing and finance systems in the UK and Europe.

Her work with the NHS has seen her commission services in both City Hospital and Good Hope Hospital and she is fully aware of local health service issues. Through her work as a Parliamentary Candidate, Annette is keen to hear ideas, comments and suggestions from Perry Barr residents about health care.

Having used all sectors of the education system in England, Annette would like to work with local schools to find ways of improving school life and opportunities for all children.

Constituency ties

Annette grew up in Aston, Newtown and Perry Barr, attending Aston Manor School and Birmingham Polytechnic. Living on Aldridge Road she watched athletics at the Alexander Stadium in the days of Daley Thompson, Fatima Whitbread, Tessa Sanderson, Seb Coe and the Steve’s – Crabb, Cram and Ovett.

Annette is thrilled to see the 2022 Commonwealth Games coming to Perry Barr but is keen to ensure that local people get the most benefit from this project as we leave the EU and strengthen our Commonwealth ties. She moved away from the area in her early thirties for work which has taken her to all corners of England as well as France, Germany, Italy and Belgium but has strong family ties in the area and spends a lot of time ‘back home’.
